Ashe graduated from Sydney College of the Arts (Bachelor of Visual Arts) in 1995 and a Master of Contemporary Art with first-class honours from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2015. He has held exhibitions across Australia and internationally. His work has been selected as a finalist in awards, including the 2019 Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award, 2014 Bowness Photography Prize and 2013 Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award. He has participated in artist residencies, with Picture Berlin (DE) and the Laughing Waters Artist Residency Program, Eltham (AU) being highlights. Alongside his exhibition practice, Ashe has developed spaces for artists of all disciplines to come together. The Rumpus Room (2013–2015), Teddy’s Joint (2016–2020) and Carport Sessions (2022–) have provided spaces for artists to feel safe presenting work in development for peer/public critique.
