Ashley Perry is a Quandamooka man from North Stradbroke Island, Queensland. Perry graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2016. Ashley Perry works across sculpture, drawing, printmaking and new media. His practice draws on the culture conflict between his Indigenous and western European heritage, as well the mixed cultural inference of art history. He has exhibited across Melbourne in galleries including Margaret Lawrence Gallery, George Patton Gallery, Magnet Galleries, McClelland Gallery & Sculpture Park and was shortlisted for the Mary and Lou Senini Student Art Award (2013) and Majlis Travelling scholarship (2016). In 2016 Ashley was awarded an exchange to the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta as a part of the New Colombo Plan.
