Jennifer Mathews

Jennifer is based at George Street Studios, Adelaide. Her practice combines techniques of woodwork, metalwork and assemblage to create freestanding and relief sculptures. Through use of found objects, architectural motifs and materials, her work is concerned with the tension between the industrial built environment and the stylised depiction of nature.

In 2016, Jennifer completed a BFA (first class Honours) at VCA. In 2015, she received a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of South Australia, and was the recipient of the Constance Gordon-Johnson Sculpture and Installation Prize. In 2021, she was awarded an Arts South Australia project grant. Jennifer has presented exhibitions in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
