Katie Paine is a Naarm/ Melbourne-based artist and writer whose practice investigates systems of meaning-making, specifically: the role that images and language play in constructing narrative and their function as methods of timekeeping. She unpacks the acts of speaking, reading and writing: these tools are often used to successfully communicate knowledge but in her work she explores the ways that these acts can be fallible, porous and mutable.
Paine has exhibited at c3 Contemporary Art Space, Channels Festival, Blindside ARI and George Paton Gallery: her work will be included in an upcoming exhibition at La Trobe Art Institute.
