MOULD COLONIES

Mark Friedlander

04 February 2017–25 February 2017

3 distinct objects: Monster, Cherry and Tongue

3 distinct spaces: Modern Hallway, Cherry Tree (Mountain) and Upside Down Yurt

REPRODUCE AND POPULATE!

Over the course of MOULD COLONIES, the objects, Monster, Cherry and Tongue, will be reproduced from moulds and their offspring will be brought in to share three different structures, the Modern Hallway, the Cherry Tree and the Upside-Down Yurt.

MOULD COLONIES examines the complexity of reproduction and the display of art objects. What happens when the ubiquitous process of mould making is carried out over and over again? What will be revealed in the super-abundance of the object; and how does an object’s display effect its reading?
