Diego Villalta

Diego Villalta is a Salvadorian-born, multidisciplinary artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Migrating to Australia as a child amidst the Salvadorian Civil War, he developed his artistic skills independently while earning a Bachelor of Music Performance with Honours from the Victorian College of the Arts. Villalta’s visual art encompasses oil paintings, murals, and stained glass, often drawing inspiration from Indigenous and pre-Columbian cultures. His solo exhibitions, BEAMS (2020) and WEAVES (2019), showcased his exploration of cultural heritage and identity. Notably, he received an award from the Salvadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2019 for his contributions to the arts and representation of Salvadorian culture in Australia and internationally.
