Elyss McCleary works across drawing, painting and assemblages. These are based on observing various spaces and things, and taking photographs. She intuitively uses her periphery in mind, feeling the surroundings around, in front and behind her to locate her compositions.
Elyss recently completed a Masters of Contemporary Art from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne University and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Drawing from RMIT University. She has exhibited various solo and group shows in Australia and overseas and also co curated exhibitions including A Second Shadow, Prelude and Trail The Lock Up, Newcastle and Drawn Together at Arts Project Australia.
Elyss is currently working on a body of large paintings and drawings regarding spatial relationships, colour placement and the idea of the un-still life in the history of interior still life painting.
