Georgie North

Georgie North’s practise involves predominantly painting and drawing. Her interests are focused on the ways one learns through paint matter, both through its tactility, and how marks culminate to form images. She recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) with first class honours in 2018, under the guidance of Julie Irving. Her most recent exhibitions include ‘Extended Gestures Extended’ Five walls, Footscray (2019), ‘Diverge Here’ at Alternating Current Art Space, Windsor (2019), ‘Smoke Stacks’ at LON Gallery, Collingwood (2018), and the ‘Victorian College of the Arts Graduate Exhibition’ (2018) where she was the recipient of the National Gallery of Victoria Women’s Association Award and the Alternating Current Art Space Prize. She was also the recipient of the Lionel Gell Foundation Scholarship for Painting (2016), and the Agnes Robertson Painting Scholarship (2015), at the Victorian College of the Arts. She currently works in West Melbourne.
