A fall from grace

Adam Stone

06 March 2015–28 March 2015

A young male sits at a skate park on his BMX bike. With some courage he initiates conversation with two female schoolgirls who are spectating. Both parties engage in a clumsy and flirtatious exchange. The prospect of his first sexual encounter looms. In a moment of clarity, the youth decides to perform his most recent and dangerous trick. Although nervously excited, he can constantly pull off the trick and maintains confidence in his ability. A miscalculation occurs and the youth puts out his foot to brace his fall – snapping his ankle. After a time, the females approach and enquire about his well being. Remaining calm, confident and maintaining the guise of masculinity, he replies simply; I broke my ankle.

The females walk away laughing.
