The Pile is a work emerging from two weeks the artist spent surveying a mass of illegally dumped rubbish in a Reservoir shopping centre car park. During this time video, text and performance were employed to contemplate the pile as a living abject body that was in a perpetual state of re-write as things were added or removed before the area was eventually cleared and fenced off.

OPENING NIGHT READING
The audience will be invited to take part in a reading of Sarah Rudledge’s Objects from the Pile, a short reading that will take place at 7pm on opening night. Participants will experiment with reading the list aloud in a syncopated way to explore the creation of a sound pile. If you’re interested in taking part all you need to do is be there this evening, a few minutes before 7, we will call out for readers before we begin.
