The Artist Stands is a vinyl text installation adhered to the wall. The text forms an arch in relation to the viewers body, spelling out the phrase; “The artist stands in this space facing the wall for the duration that you imagine them”. The work prompts the viewer to imagine an artist occupying the space, creating a series of questions around art making, our imagination and the relationships between viewers, artworks, artists and spaces. While the viewer may imagine the creator of the work, they are also positioned to consider themselves as an artist due to the inference made by the text.
