Joseph Flynn’s work primarily deals with the advent of technology and how the mechanisms of society deal with it. We area all sharing and loving things on social media platforms, but not commonly IRL. This begs the question: what happens next? After the environmental disaster, financial crisis, nuclear meltdown and social disfunction we will be left with the waste products of our society. USB and network cables, plastic data wastelands with no way to find food or shelter without Google and/or the smartphone; “The wrong Amazon is burning”. An exhibiting artist since 2009, Joseph Flynn has studied a Master of Contemporary Art at the Victorian College of the Arts, The University of Melbourne and continues to exhibit his practice around the world and Australia. Born 1989, living and working in Melbourne. Flynn works in installation, painting, new media, 3d printing and video animation, drawing and sculpture.
