Tributary

Jeannie Brown
Skye Williams

08 February 2013–02 March 2013

Drawing allows for a mental state where lucid thoughts flow from a loosening of control. In their separate practices, Jeannie Brown and Skye Williams both work using free association to searchingly generate images that are ambiguous, even to the artists themselves. Tributary sees their collaboration on shared surfaces to work through a conversation about creative processes. The resulting works on paper were produced using different techniques of drawing collaboration as a means to further loosen conscious control. These images are energised by abandon, and moments of tension, that dwell on the boundaries of conditioned sight and thought.
