Ingrid Hollis is an emerging artist working and living in Naarm/Melbourne. She works across a sculptural, painting and spatial practice. Primarily working with steel, she plays with the technicality of the material, attempting to either push or conform to the confines of the rigid metal. She uses the harsh materiality of steel to communicate and process lived experience of grief and loss. Her conceptual research investigates architectural monuments, deity symbols, wartime conflict and resistance movements. She uses abstraction to deconstruct and re-contextualise weighted symbols and ideologies, prioritising balance in her installation to create a sense of harmony.
