The Fire Theory collective

The Fire Theory collective (TFT) is a Salvadorian collaborative art collective formed by Melissa Guevara, Crack Rodríguez, Ernesto Bautista, Mauricio Kabistán, and Mauricio Esquivel. Emerging amid a legacy of civil war, TFT embraces the concept of “fire”, composed of a medium, fuel, and trigger, as a metaphor for creative and social ignition. Through poignant interdisciplinary projects, they’ve explored themes of historical memory, reconciliation, and collective healing. Their 2016 “political-sport event,” The Game, united ex-guerrillas and military veterans in a symbolic football match. Other significant works include “Re: Construction Project” (2017–18), Denied Declaration (2018), and Martirio (2019), which reframe truth-telling, legal dignity, and remembrance through art.
