POP-UP: Clocking

DRM
gemma+molly

15 June 2025–15 June 2025

Clocking presents an artist-led daytime program of experimental choreographic work across the two galleries of KINGS Artist-Run.

Artists DRM and gemma+molly will take over the empty galleries with new explorations of embodied memory, wish- and myth-making, sensory il/legibility, and queered time.

In two performances, DRM dirties and recalculates the figures of the public monument and the public body, through the recitals, re-enactments and excretions of puppeteered armour, and gemma+molly encounter the nonlinear temporalities of water and wish making, through the passing, gargling and cycling of existing wishes between animate and inanimate orifices.

In these works, the artists work through choreography as its own applied logic of systemised sense-making and recognition.

EVENT DETAILS: Sunday 15th June, 4 – 5pm

  • DRM (Daniel R Marks) is an artist and researcher based in Naarm/Melbourne, working in an interdisciplinary choreographic practice which engages intersections of imaging, the queer body and surveillance technologies. They work in a hybrid practice incorporating performance, experimental audio-visual media and sculpture. DRM completed their PhD Protagonist: A Choreography of Queer Digitiality at RMIT University School of Art in 2024 and are a lecturer at RMIT School of Fashion & Textiles. They are affiliated with Performing Dress Lab (RMIT, Aalto University & London College of Fashion), the Posthuman Art Network (Foreign Objekt), and ACMI X. Their recent work has been supported by Temperance Hall, Liquid Architecture, ACMI, Bus Projects, and Run Artist Run.
  • gemma+molly (Gemma Sattler and Molly McKenzie) are Naarm based artists, working primarily from their artistic partnership, gemma+molly. Their dual practice exists within, and is activated by, the medium of live performance. Anchored by individual and shared understandings of the potential of choreography as a structure independent of dance, they devise performance that choreographs attention, space and bodies, both animate and inanimate. gemma+molly rely on the necessary presence of their two bodies at work to conduct physical, durational and live installation experiments/performances. Underlying their practice is an embodied thinking towards cyclical, queered time. Their recent work has been supported by STRUT Dance x Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), Dancehouse and Temperance Hall.
