01 August 2014–23 August 2014

As part of KINGS Artist-Run’s Limitless City: Abstraction, Materiality and Authenticity, we are proud to present Group Show, a survey of contemporary abstraction. Group Show examines the focus on new forms of abstraction in the practices of eight young Melbourne artists. Since abstraction first appeared as an avant-garde art practice at the turn of the 20th Century artists have examined the potential for abstraction to create new forms of expression. The artists involved in Group Show continue and extend the evolution of abstraction into the 21st Century, demonstrating that for young artists abstraction is not only alive and well, but also thriving.

CONVERSATION: Join us for an informal discussion and artist talk on Thursday 21 August, 6pm. As part of Abstraction, Materiality and Authenticity KINGS Artist-Run will be hosting after work drinks and dialogue on the last Thursday of each of the curated exhibitions in this series.

KINGS Artist-Run proudly presents Group Show as part of our 2014 Limitless City Festival of Abstraction, Materiality and Authenticity.
