Regina José Galindo is a Guatemalan performance artist and poet renowned for her powerful, politically charged work. Shaped by the trauma of Guatemala’s civil war, she uses her own body as a medium to confront issues like gender violence, state repression, and historical memory. She garnered international recognition with the Golden Lion for Best Young Artist at the 2005 Venice Biennale and the Prince Claus Award in 2011. Galindo’s work is featured in major collections, including MoMA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, and the Guggenheim.
